Sonja Yurkiw is Concord’s senior vice president and general counsel. Sonja rejoined Concord in 2008 (having worked for Concord while attending college in the mid-90s). Sonja holds a Bachelors’ Degree from Arizona State University, magna cum laude and a Juris Doctorate Degree from Gonzaga University, School of Law, cum laude. She has focused her legal practice in the areas of civil, commercial, business and debt collection litigation and served as a substitute professor of law for Phoenix International School of Law, teaching Federal Civil Procedure. Sonja is a frequent lecturer and has authored white papers in the areas of Arizona lien law, workers’ compensation, state and federal civil procedure, insurance, bankruptcy and collections. She is a member of the Arizona State Bar, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the American Collectors Association. Sonja has been admitted to practice law in the state of Arizona, and has argued cases in federal court, state superior court, the Ninth Circuit, and the Arizona Supreme Court. Sonja has served in several VP roles at Concord in the areas of collections, business analysis, project management, quality assurance and corporate training.
